Kindergarten News for the Week of October 28, 2019

Kindergarten News for the Week of October 28, 2019
Reading
Our Unit 2 essential question is: “What do living things need?”  This week’s story is a fiction text called “Do We Need This?”.  It follows two pigs as they get ready to go on a hike.  They try to figure out what is really important to take with them.

We will be focusing on the letters Hh as in hot and Ll as in lemon.

Math
Our essential question is: “How do we read, write, and count numbers up to 5?”  We will be counting forward and backward with and without objects.

Announcements
The Fall Celebration will take place on Thursday, October 31.  Please send your child’s costume to school in his/her backpack.  Do not send your child your child to school in costume.  We will be changing into our costumes in the afternoon.  The Halloween parade will be streamed virtually on the district’s Facebook page.  Kindergarten will begin the parade at 1:30pm.

We go out for recess every day unless it is raining.  Please remember to send your child to school in an appropriate coat so they are not cold when we are playing at recess.

If you have not sent in the $5.00 donation for party money, please do so as soon as possible.  Remember to put it in a labeled envelope.

Don’t forget to practice sight words with your child every night!

Our Encore schedule for this week is:
Monday – Day 4 - Art
Tuesday – Day 5 – P.E. (Remember your sneakers!)
Wednesday –  Day 6 – Computers
Thursday – Day 7 –Music
Friday – Day 8 – Art

If you ever have any questions, feel free to contact me at any time.  Have a wonderful week!
