Kindergarten News for the Week of December 16-December 20, 2013

Next week we will be finishing the letter Rr as in rabbit.  There will be no show and tell or word list test next week.

Word List # 7 will be sent home today but it will not be tested until Friday, January 3.  Thank you for quickly reviewing the list each night with your child!

Friday, December 20 will be our Polar Express Day in Kindergarten.  Students will be allowed to wear their favorite pajamas to school just like the kids on the Polar Express!  We will drink hot chocolate, eat cookies, and watch the movie in our pajamas.  We will have a fun time welcoming our Christmas holiday!  Please note that December 20 is an early dismissal and students will be dismissed at 1:00pm. 

There will be no school from Monday, December 23 through Wednesday, January 1.  School will resume on Thursday, January 2.  I hope your family has a wonderful Christmas break!

Our specials schedule for the week is:
Monday – Day 5 – Art
Tuesday– Non rotation Day
Wednesday– Day 1 – Library – (Don’t forget your books!)
Thursday – Day 2 – Music
Friday – Day 3 – Gym (Remember your sneakers!)

Kindergarten News for the Week of December 9 - December 13, 2013




Kindergarten News for the Week of December 9-December 13, 2013

Next week we will be learning the letter Rr as in rabbit.  Show and Tell for the letter Rr will be on Friday, December 13.  Please send in one or two items that begin with the letter Rr.

Word List # 6 will be sent home today and tested next Friday, December 13.  Thank you for quickly reviewing the list each night with your child!

Thank you for helping your child write his/her Santa letter.  We decorated our envelopes, put a special stamp on them, and sent them with the postman to Santa!  We are all so excited that Santa will be receiving our letters soon!

Just a reminder…Students are to wear a collared shirt and nice pants every day except Gym day.  On Gym day your child may wear a Spartan shirt and sweatpants.  Please do not send your child in sweatpants on Fridays unless we have Gym that day.  Nice pants are still required on Fridays, but your child may wear a Spartan shirt.

Kindergarten News for the Week of November 25 - November 29, 2013



Kindergarten News for the Week of November 25 -  November 29, 2013

Students will be dismissing at 1:00pm on Wednesday, November 27 due to Thanksgiving break.  There will be no school Thursday, November 28 – Monday, December 2.  Classes will resume on Tuesday, December 3.  Enjoy your vacation!

Word List #5 will be sent home today but will not be tested until Friday, December 6.  Please quickly review the list every night with your child.  Thank you!

On Monday, November 25 Santa letters will be sent home.  Please complete the letter with your child and send back to school no later than Tuesday, December 3.  The post man will be collecting the letters sometime during that week and we do not want any child to feel left out.  

The next Scholastic Book Order is due Friday, December 6.  If your flyer is missing, you can order online at www.scholastic.com/readingclub.  Our access code is LJBCY

K-2 will be performing a Christmas concert on Thursday, December 6 in the high school auditorium.  Kindergarten will sing right away at 9:30am.  Please dress your child in clothes that are dress code appropriate or nicer.  Many parents decide to dress their daughters in dresses and sons in a shirt and tie, but that is up to you!  All parents are invited to attend this festive event!

Kindergarten News for the Week of November 4, 2013



Thank you to everyone who came out to support the Halloween Parade!  Everyone looked wonderful in their costumes!  A big thank you also goes out to the homeroom helpers and anyone who sent in goodies for the students!  

Word List #2 will be sent home today and tested on Friday, November 8.  Please quickly review the list every night with your child.  Thank you!

Next week we will be learning the letter Mm as in mouse.  Please continue to review all of the letters your child has previously learned.  Show and Tell for the letter Mm will be held on Friday, November 8.  Please send in one or two small items that begin with the letter Mm.

We will be going outside for recess every day that is sunny.  Please send your child to school with a warm jacket, gloves, and a hat since the weather has been getting colder.  If your child does not have a coat, he/she will not be permitted to go outside for recess.  Also, please begin to practice buttoning buttons, zipping zippers, and tying shoes.  All of these independent skills are very important to make the day run more smoothly with less interruptions.

Kindergarten News for the Week of October 28 - November 1, 2013




Thanks again to all of the parent helpers who helped to make the Fall Festival a success!  Kindergarten would also like to thank the following people:   Hart Farms of Ringtown for their donations of pumpkins, Mr. Bob Burns and Mr. Jim McAndrew for letting us use their tractor and wagon for the hayride, Boyer’s Grocery Store for donating cookies, Hillshire Farms (Sara Lee) for their donation of hot dogs, American Hose Co for bringing a fire truck, and American Legion of Mahanoy City for their monetary donation.  The winners for the Guess How Many Contest were Bethany Loftus (Kindergarten) and Ashley Hepler (4th Grade).

Word List #1 is being sent home this week.  It will be tested on Friday, November 1. Please review the note in your child's folder and do a quick review of the words every night.  Thank you!

Thursday, October 31 is our Halloween Parade/Party!  There will be a parade in the bus loop at 2:00 and everybody is invited to attend!  Please do not send your child to school in costume.  You may pack your child’s costume in his/her backpack.  We will not be changing into our costumes until 1:30pm.  Thank you!
If you have not turned in your Halloween/Valentine’s Party money yet, please do so ASAP.  The amount is $5.00 and you may send it in a labeled envelope in your child’s folder.
