March 9-13, 2020

Kindergarten News for the Week of March 9, 2020
Reading
Our Unit 4 Essential Question is “What can we learn from the past?”.  This week’s story is called “Tempura, Tempera”.  We will learn about connecting to the past through family traditions.

We will be reviewing the sounds for Dd (dog), Ff (flower), and Vv (violin).

Math
Our essential question is: “How can objects be joined together?”  We will be using objects and drawings to model the action of joining together to represent addition.

In Spring Math, we will be reading numbers from 0-20 and drawing that number of circles.  You can practice this at home by helping your child count objects from 0-20.

Announcements
Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday, March 8.  Don’t forget to turn your clocks forward and SPRING ahead!

Newspaper in Education Week logs are due no later than Friday, March 13.

The North Schuylkill Elementary PTO Annual Basket Raffle will be held on April 25 and 26.  Our class basket will be a Crayola theme.  We are asking that parents/guardians please send in either a monetary donation or a Crayola item by April 9, 2020.  Each student who contributes to their classroom basket will be able to take part in free Spartan dress down day on Friday, April 24.  The classroom for each grade whose basket has the most tickets at the end of the raffle will receive an ice cream party for their classroom!  Thank you in advance for donating Crayola items for our basket!

AR reading logs are due on the last day of each month.  Remember, in order to get a free personal pizza from Pizza Hut, your child must read 15 or more books in a given month.  Congratulations to Addison, Kennedy, Danica, Ella, Evan, Cooper, and Alizee for meeting the goal for February!
