Kindergarten News for the Week of November 25, 2019
“Thanksgiving isn’t just a day. It’s a way we can live our lives every day.” –
Katrina Mayer
Reading
Our Unit 2 essential question is: “What do living things
need?” We will be working on our Unit 2
wrap-up project this week and next week.
We will re-read some of our previous stories, as well as research pets
and write or draw about a pet’s needs.
Math
Our essential question is: “How do we read, write, and count
numbers up to 20?” We will be reading,
writing, and representing whole numbers from 0 to 20 with and without objects
or pictures.
We have been practicing filling in missing numbers up to
10. This can be a difficult skill for
some students to master. You can
practice at home by writing numbers from 0-10 with your child, and counting
forward and backward to 10.
Announcements
Thanksgiving is almost here!
There will be an early dismissal at 12 noon on Wednesday, November
27. There will be no school from
Thursday, November 28-Monday, December 2.
Classes will resume on Tuesday, December 3. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!
Donations for the veterans will be collected all next week. Your child will receive a Sparty ticket for
every item that they donate. Thank you
in advance for helping our veterans!
The weather has been getting much colder lately. Please remember to send your child to school
in a winter coat, gloves and a hat. We
go outside for recess every day unless it is raining or below 38 degrees.
Please continue to practice skills for independence, such as
tying shoes, zipping coats, buttoning pants, putting on hats and gloves, etc.
Don’t forget to practice sight words with your child every
night.
