Kindergarten News for the Week of November 29, 2016

The Kindergarten Field Trip will be on Thursday, December 1.  Students are asked to wear a polo and dress code approved bottoms or better!  This means that students may wear Christmas dresses, suits, etc (even if they aren’t dress code appropriate.)  Please remember that we are going to a theatre and we will be representing North Schuylkill.  Students should not wear gym clothes on the field trip.  We will be leaving PROMPTLY at 9am and returning at approximately 12:30pm.  We will be eating a regular school lunch after our field trip.  Please plan your child’s lunch as you normally do.  Students should NOT bring money on this field trip!

Saturday, December 10 is the NSE Holiday Concert.  Kindergarten performs at 10am in the NSHS Auditorium.  Your child should report to the high school gym no later than 9:30am.  Santa will be located in the gym for photos.  He will also have cookies!  Please arrive early to allow time for a quick visit.  Dress code clothing or dress-up clothing is permitted.  Please, no jeans or sweatpants.

This week we will be learning the letter Dd as in dinosaur.  Instead of Show and Tell, we will be doing dinosaur projects.  Projects will be due on Friday, December 2.  Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Our new Reading story is called “Jack and the Beanstalk”.  We will discuss how make believe plants are alike and different.  We will also learn about realism and fantasy.

In Math we will learning about the numbers 6-10.

Our specials schedule for the week is:
Monday – No School!
Tuesday – Day 9 - Computers
Wednesday – Day 10 – Library (Don’t forget your book!)
Thursday – Day 1 - Art (Dress nice for the field trip!)
Friday – Day 2 – Gym (Remember your sneakers!)

Kindergarten News for the Week of November 21, 2016

Report cards will be distributed on Monday, November 21.  Please keep the report card and return the signed envelope to school.

On Wednesday, November 23, students will be dismissed at 12:00pm.  There will be no school from Thursday, November 24 through Monday, November 28.  Classes will resume on Tuesday, November 29.

Thursday, December 1 is our Kindergarten field trip to the Bloomsburg Theater.  We will be leaving the school promptly at 9:00.  Please make sure your child is on time for school that day.  Your child should wear dress code appropriate clothes or better.  Please do not send your child to school in gym clothes.

This week we will continue to focus on the letter Ii as in igloo.  There will be no Show and Tell this week.

When we return from Thanksgiving break, we will be learning the letter Dd as in dinosaur.  Instead of Show and Tell, we will be doing dinosaur projects.  All information will be sent home in your child’s folder before break.  Projects will be due on Friday, December 2.  Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Kindergarten News for the Week of November 14, 2016

The North Schuylkill Accelerated Reader Program will be having a fundraiser on Thursday, November 17 at the St. Clair Taco Bell.  It will run from 5-8pm.  Please come out and support our school if you are able.  Taco Bell will donate 15% of your purchase to the Accelerated Reader Program!

On Thursday, November 17 we will be participating in a Personal Body Safety presentation.  It will be presented by SARCC.  If you would like to exclude your child from attending the presentation, please send a note to the school.

Friday, November 18 will be a Spartan Dress Down Day.  Students may wear jeans or sweatpants.  The suggested donation is $1.00.

Scholastic Book Orders are due on Wednesday, November 16.

Kindergarten will be going out to recess every day that the weather is above freezing.  Please send your child to school in appropriate clothing.  This time of year a winter coat, gloves, and a hat are necessary.  If your child does not wear a coat, he/she will not be allowed to go outside for recess. 

This week we will focus on the letter Ii as in igloo.  Show and Tell for the letter Ii will be on Friday, November 18.  A paper bag with the letter Ii on it will be sent home in your child’s folder on Thursday.  Please send the bag back to school on Friday with one or two small items that start with Ii.   Please note that the items must be small enough to fit inside the brown paper bag.  Thank you for your help!

Our new Reading story is called “A Bed for the Winter”.  We will discuss what kind of home an animal needs.  We will also learn about sequence.

Kindergarten News for the Week of November 7, 2016


Wednesday, November 9 is a 2-hour data delay for students. 

Daylight savings time ends on Sunday, November 6.  Remember to turn your clocks back one hour!  Also, shorts are no longer permitted until daylight savings time begins in the spring.

This week we will focus on the letter Cc as in cat.  Show and Tell for the letter Cc will be on Friday, November 11.  A paper bag with the letter Cc will be sent home in your child’s folder on Thursday.  Please send the bag back to school on Friday with one or two small items that start with Cc.   Please note that the items must be small enough to fit inside the brown paper bag.  Thank you for your help!

Our new Reading story is called “Bear Snores On”.  We will discuss what unique thing a bear does in the winter.  We will also learn about realism and fantasy.

In Math we will continue comparing and ordering numbers from 0-5.
