Kindergarten News for the Week of September 28, 2015

Our new Reading story is called “Miss Bindergarten Takes a Field Trip with Kindergarten”.  We will discuss classifying and categorizing, as well as how people in a community cooperate.

Please continue to review sight words with your child every night.  When your child masters a list, a new list will be sent home to practice.

In Math we will begin our new chapter “Analyzing, Comparing, and Composing Shapes”.

Please continue to help your child memorize his/her 4 digit student ID.  The number can be found on his/her bus tag and folder.  This number is important to know so your child can order lunch, log onto the computer, and check out books from the library.  Thank you for your help!

Next week is Homecoming Week!  We encourage all students to participate in each day’s theme.  Just remember, school rules and dress code still apply.  Please keep the outfits fun but school appropriate!

Our specials schedule for the week is:
Monday  – Day 10 – Library
Idol Day – Kick off spirit week by dressing like your favorite idol!
Tuesday – Day 1 –Art
Decades Day – Dress like they did in your favorite decade!
Wednesday – Day 2 – Gym (Don’t forget your sneakers!)
Team Day – Show your team pride by wearing their colors!

Kindergarten News for the Week of September 21, 2015

Kindergarten News for the Week of September 21, 2015

Next week we will begin our new Reading story “Plaidypus Lost”.  We will discuss how families cooperate, as well as talk about the setting of a story.  A few new letters will be introduced this week (Oo, Pp, Qq, Rr, Ss) and we will come back later in the year to learn about them in more detail.

In Math we will begin learning about positional words (up, down, top, bottom, etc.)

Please continue to review sight words every day.  Your child’s sight word folder should be returned to school each day.  I will put new words in the folder as your child masters each list.

You may want to send in a sweater or jacket for your child to keep in his/her cubby.  Our room is often chilly due to the constant blowing of our air system.  You may also want to send a change of clothes to be kept in case of spills or accidents.  These are completely optional and up to you!

If your child has not learned his/her 4-digit ID number yet, please continue to work on memorization.  The number is used for buying lunch, checking out books from the library, and logging on to computers.

Our Specials schedule for next week is:
Monday – Day 5 - Guidance
Tuesday – Day 6 –Art
Wednesday – Day 7 – Gym
Thursday – Day 8 – Music
Friday – Day 9 - Computers

Please let me know if you or your child needs anything.  Have a fantastic weekend!

Kindergarten News for the Week of September 14, 2015

Next week we will begin our new Reading story “We Are So Proud”.  We will discuss how school children work and play together, as well as talk about the setting of a story.  A few new letters will be introduced this week (Ff, Gg, Hh, Ii, Jj, Kk, Ll, Mm, and Nn) and we will come back later in the year to learn about them in more detail.

In Math we will continue to learn about identifying and describing shapes.

All children need a snack and drink every day.  Snack time is at 2:00.  In order to eliminate confusion about whether something is a snack or a drink, you may want to pack your child’s lunch in a regular lunchbox and his/her snack in a paper bag marked “snack”.  Some children have eaten snack for lunch when they were supposed to eat in the cafeteria!

You may want to send in a sweater or jacket for your child to keep in his/her cubby.  Our room is often chilly due to the constant blowing of our air system.  You may also want to send a change of clothes to be kept in case of spills or accidents.  These are completely optional and up to you!

Please make sure your child has his/her red bus tag each day!  We want everyone to get home safely and some children do not know their full name ---let alone address, phone number, etc.

Our Specials schedule for next week is:

Monday – Day 10 - Library

Tuesday – Day 1 –Art

Wednesday – Day 2 – Gym

Thursday – Day 3 – Music

Friday – Day 4 - Computers

Please let me know if you or your child needs anything.  Have a fantastic weekend!
