Kindergarten News for the Week of October 31, 2016


This week we will focus on the letter Pp as in pan.  Show and Tell for the letter Pp will be on Friday, November 4.  A paper bag with the letter Pp will be sent home in your child’s folder on Thursday.  Please send the bag back to school on Friday with one or two small items that start with Pp.   Please note that the items must be small enough to fit inside the brown paper bag.  Thank you for your help!

Our new Reading story is called “Animal Babies in Grasslands”.  We will discuss what special animals live in grasslands.  We will also learn about main idea.

In Math we will be continuing to learn about the numbers 0-5.

Please remember to review your child’s sight word list every night!

If you were chosen to be a chaperone for our field trip, your money is due no later than Friday, November 4.

Kindergarten News for the Week of October 24, 2016

Please remember to review your child’s sight word list every night!  In order to make it through all 18 lists by the end of the year, students should be getting a new list every one to two weeks.

This week we will focus on the letter Ss as in snake.  Show and Tell for the letter Ss will be on Friday, October 28.  A paper bag with the letter Ss will be sent home in your child’s folder on Thursday.  Please send the bag back to school on Friday with one or two small items that start with Ss.   Please note that the items must be small enough to fit inside the brown paper bag.  Thank you for your help!

Our new Reading story is called “Nature Spy”.  We will discuss what we can learn about nature when we look closely.  We will also learn about setting.

In Math we will continue learning about numbers from 0-5.

Everyone is invited to attend the NSE Halloween Parade in Spartan Stadium on Friday, October 28.  It will start promptly at 2:00pm with Kindergarten and will end with 6th grade.  Please send your child’s costume to school with him/her in a bag.  Do not send your child to school wearing his/her costume!  Remember, clown costumes and weapons are not permitted.

This week we will be celebrating our drug free school with Red Ribbon Week!  Your child is invited to participate in the daily themes.  They are listed below in the schedule.

Kindergarten News for the Week of October 17, 2016


The Scholastic Book Fair will be taking place next week.  Family shopping night is on Monday, October 17 from 4-7pm.  Our class will have time to shop during our Book Exchange class on Thursday, October 20.  If you would like your child to purchase books from the fair, please send money in a labeled envelope.  Keep in mind that tax will be charged on all items. 

Our new Reading story is called “Flowers.”  We will discuss comparing and contrasting, as well as how flowers are unique.

This week we will be focusing on the letter Aa as in apple.  Show and Tell for the letter Aa will be on Friday, October 21.  A paper bag with the letter Aa on it will be sent home in your child’s folder.  Please send the bag back to school on Friday with one or two small items that start with Aa.   Please note that the items must be small enough to fit inside the brown paper bag.  Thank you for your help!

Kindergarten News for the Week of October 10, 2016


There will be no school for students on Monday, October 10.  Enjoy your long weekend!

There is a 2 Hour Data Delay on Wednesday, October 12.

Our new Reading story is called “Dig, Dig, Digging.”  We will discuss classifying and categorizing, as well as how machines help people work.

This week we will be focusing on the letter Tt as in tent.  Show and Tell for the letter Tt will be on Friday, October 14.  A paper bag with the letter Tt on it will be sent home in your child’s folder.  Please send the bag back to school on Friday with one or two small items that start with Tt.   Please note that the items must be small enough to fit inside the brown paper bag.  Thank you for your help!
