Kindergarten News for the Week of April 29, 2019

Countdown to Summer:  26 days!

The PTO Basket Raffle is this weekend on Saturday from 10am-5pm and Sunday from 10am-3pm.  Stop by the Elementary Gymnasium and support the PTO’s biggest fundraiser of the year!  Thank you to everyone who donated to our Crayola basket!

Our new Reading story is called “Building with Dad.”  We will discuss how a school is built. We will also review comparing and contrasting.  This week we will be reviewing the vowels Aa and Ii.  There will be no show and tell for the remainder of the year.

In Math we will be continuing our measurement unit.   Our essential question is – “How and why do we measure things?”

Tuesday – Day 6 –Art

Wednesday – Day 7 – Guidance

Thursday – Day 8 – P.E. (Remember your sneakers!)

Kindergarten News for the Week of April 22, 2019

There will be no school on Friday, April 19. School WILL be in session beginning on Monday, April 22.  Enjoy your quick Easter break!

This week we will be learning about the letter Yy as in yo-yo.  Show and tell for the letter Yy will be on Friday, April 26.

Our new Reading story is called “This is the Way We Go to School.”  We will discuss how children around the world get to school.  Our comprehension strategy is drawing conclusions.

In Math we will be continuing our measurement unit.   Our essential question is – “How and why do we measure things?”

Kindergarten News for the Week of April 15, 2019

There will be no school on Friday, April 19 due to Good Friday.  School will resume on Monday, April 22.  Have a Happy Easter!

Our new Reading story is called “On the Move!”  We will discuss how people in different parts of the world travel.  We will also learn about main idea.

In Math we will continue to learn about measurement.  Our essential question is – “How do we measure things?”

Kindergarten News for the Week of April 8, 2019

The PTO is holding a Basket Auction again this year as a fundraiser.  Each class is contributing a themed basket.  Our basket theme is “Crayola”.  We are asking that parents send in an item or items to contribute to our class basket.  There are many Crayola products available such as crayons, markers, coloring books, finger paints, etc.  Please send your items to school by April 12.  Thank you to those of you who have already donated!

Report cards will be coming home on Wednesday, April 10.  Please sign and return the envelope.  You can keep the enclosed report card for your records.

Friday, April 12 is a paid Spartan dress down day with a donation of $1.00.  Your child can wear a Spartan shirt with sweatpants/shorts or jeans on that day.

This week we will be focusing on the letter Uu as in umbrella.  Show and Tell for the letter Uu will be on Friday, April 12.  Please send in one or two items that begin with Uu.

Our new Reading story is called “The Little Engine That Could.”  We will discuss what kinds of work trains do.  We will also be learning about plot.

In Math we will continue Unit 7: Measurement, Data, and Time.  Our essential question is “How and why do we measure things?”
