Kindergarten News for the Week of February 29, 2016


Friday, March 4 is Read Across America Day!  Students from Bloomsburg University will be teaching a lesson to our class, we will be  doing Dr. Seuss activities, and we will even have a guest reader.  I am asking that students in our class wear a red shirt on Friday.  If you have any Dr. Seuss books at home, please feel free to send them with your child throughout this week.  Don't forget to write your child's name inside the book.  Thank you!

Due to the three snow days, there have been some changes to the school schedule.  There WILL be school on March 24, 28, and 29, 2016.

Don’t forget to do a quick review of your child’s sight words every night.  Remember, students must learn all 96 Kindergarten sight words by the end of the year!

This week we will be focusing on the letter Gg as in goat.  Show and Tell for the letter Gg will be on Thursday, March 3.

Our new Reading story is called “Goldilocks and the Three Bears”.  We will discuss how an adventure can cause trouble.  We will also learn about characters.

In Math we will be finishing up our topic on addition and moving on to subtraction.

Our specials schedule for the week is:
Monday –Day 1 - Art
Tuesday – Day 2 – Gym (Don’t forget your sneakers!)
Wednesday – Day 3 – Music
Thursday – Day 4 – Computers
Friday – Day 5 – Guidance (Wear a red shirt!)

Kindergarten News for the Week of February 22, 2016


On Friday, February 26th, we will be having our positive behavior plan reward for the month of February.  The February reward is that students may bring a toy or game to school to play with during recess!  Please remind your child that whatever they bring to school is their responsibility.  We ask that you do not send any electronics that need to be hooked up to wi-fi.  Thank you!

Kindergarten News for the Week of February 8, 2016



We will be having our Valentine’s Day Party on Thursday, February 11.  A list of the students in our class is in your child’s folder.  If you choose to send Valentines to school with your child, please make sure to include every member of our class.  We don’t want anyone to feel left out.  Thank you!

There will be no school on Friday, February 12 or Monday, February 15.  Classes will resume on Tuesday, February 16.

This week we will be focusing on the letter Ll as in lemon.  Show and Tell for the letter Ll will be on Thursday, February 11. 

Our new Reading story is called “My Lucky Day”.  We will discuss what it means to have a lucky adventure.  We will also learn about cause and effect.

In Math we will begin learning about numbers to 100.

Monday –Day 9 - Computers
Tuesday – Day 10 – Library (Remember your books!)
Wednesday – Day 1 – Art
Thursday – Day 2 – Gym (Don’t forget your sneakers!)
Friday – No School!
