The Scholastic Book Fair will be going on this week.  Our day to shop is on Wednesday, May 9 from 9:00-9:40am.  Please send your child’s book fair money in an envelope labeled with his/her name and the amount of money that is enclosed.  Remember, sales tax will be charged on all items.

There are only four more weeks until summer vacation!  That means it is time to find a summer home for the class guinea pigs, Ron Weasley and Darth Vader.  If you and your family would like to take care of our lovable pets during the summer, please let me know in a signed note by Friday, May 18.  You would be responsible for keeping our furry friends safe, playing with them, making sure they always have clean water and food, and cleaning their cage at least once per week.  The guinea pigs would need to be back at school on Meet the Teacher night of the 2018-19 school year.  If there is more than one family who volunteers, I will pick names out of a hat.  Thank you!

There is a PBIS Dress Down Plus Hat Day on Friday, May 11.  The donation to wear a Spartan shirt with jeans/sweatpants is $1.00.  For another $1.00 you can wear your favorite hat during school.

Kindergarten Graduation is quickly approaching.  Students are encouraged to wear a white collared shirt with dress code appropriate pants, shorts, or skirt for Kindergarten Graduation, however it is not mandatory.  When picking out your child’s outfit for graduation day, please keep in mind that they will be wearing a cap and gown for the ceremony and it can get very hot on the stage with lights on them.  There is a possibility that we will be walking to the high school the morning of Graduation to practice so we ask that your child wears good walking shoes.

This week we will be reviewing long and short vowel sounds.  There will be no Show and Tell for the remainder of the year.

Our new Reading story is called “Old MacDonald Had a Woodshop.”  We will discuss what tools you need to build things.  We will also learn about character.
