Kindergarten News for the Week of March 2, 2020
Reading
Our Unit 4 Essential Question is “What can we learn from the
past?”. This week’s story is called
“Changing Laws, Changing Lives: Martin Luther King, Jr.” We will learn about an important person who
lived in the past.
We will be reviewing the sounds for Pp (pen), Yy (yak), and
Ii (igloo, ice).
Math
Our essential question is: “How can objects be joined
together?” We will be using objects and
drawings to model the action of joining together to represent addition.
We have been working so hard and we moved onto a new Math
skill! In Spring Math, we will be reading
numbers from 0-20 and drawing corresponding circles. You can practice this at home by helping your
child count objects from 0-20.
Announcements
March 2-6 is Newspaper in Education Week. A “Read-at-Home Challenge” was sent home in
your child’s folder today. Our goal is
to have every student read the newspaper with an adult for at least 10 minutes
every night next week. If you meet the
goal, please fill out the form, sign, and return to school no later than
Friday, March 13. Thank you!
To celebrate Career Week, we will be having a dress up day
on Friday, March 6. Your child can dress
like their role model on that day.
Don’t forget to practice sight words with your child every
night.
AR reading logs are due on Monday, March 2. Remember, in order to get a free personal
pizza from Pizza Hut, your child must read 15 or more books in a given month.
Our Encore schedule for this week is:
Monday – Day 3 - Music
Tuesday – Day 4 – Art
Wednesday – Day 5 – P.E.
(Don’t forget your sneakers!)
Thursday – Day 6 – Computers
Friday – Day 7 – Music
