Kindergarten News for the Week of October 7, 2019

Reading
Our Unit 1 essential question is: “What makes a place special?” This week, we will be reviewing our past stories, as well as researching and writing about museums.

We will be focusing on the letters Aa as in ant and Ii as in igloo.

Math
Our essential question is: “How do we read, write, and count numbers up to 5?”  We will be learning to count a set of objects and demonstrate that the last number said tells the number of objects in the set.

Announcements
We go out for recess every day unless it is raining.  Please remember to send your child to school in a coat so they are not cold when we are playing at recess.

Monday, October 7 is Bully Prevention Day.  If your child wears a blue shirt, he/she can also dress down in jeans or sweatpants on that day.

The Book Fair is this week!  Our class will shop on Monday, October 7 during our encore time.  If you would like your student to purchase books, please send their money in a labeled envelope on Monday.

The Fall Festival will be held on Thursday, October 10.  Please send your child to school in sneakers and gym clothes.  If it is chilly, remember to send a coat since we will be outside for the majority of the day.  You do not need to send a snack for your child that day.

Friday, October 11 is a half day for students.  Dismissal will be at 12 noon.  We will not have snack on Friday.  There will be no school for students on Monday, October 14.  Enjoy your long weekend!

Don’t forget to practice sight words with your child every night!

Our Encore schedule for this week is:
Monday – Day 6 - Computers  (Book Fair shopping!)
Tuesday –  Day 7 – Music
Wednesday – Day 8 - Art
Thursday – Day 1 – P.E. (Remember your sneakers!)
