Kindergarten News for the Week of September 16, 2019

Reading
Our Unit 1 essential question is: “What makes a place special?” This week’s story is called “At the Library”.  It is a nonfiction text that describes all of the fun things you can find in a library.

We will be focusing on the letters Pp as in pat and Cc as in cat.

Math
Our essential question is: “How do we classify and sort objects?”  We will be learning to identify 2-dimensional shapes, including circles, triangles, rectangles, and squares.

Announcements
Please continue to help your child memorize their 5-digit student ID.  You can find it on the front of their red homework folder.  This number should be memorized as soon as possible because it is used to buy lunch, log into computers, and check out library books.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered to help plan the Fall Festival.  It’s not too late if you would still like to volunteer!  If you would like to help out, please send me your name and e-mail and I will put you in contact with someone from our Fall Festival committee.

Friday, September 20 is a paid Spartan dress down day!  If your child brings in a $1.00 donation, they can wear jeans and a Spartan shirt on that day.

Scholastic Book Orders are due on Monday, September 16.

Please send in your $3.00 for the Fall Festival as soon as possible.  Don’t forget to put the money in a labeled envelope.  Thank you!

Our Encore schedule for this week is:
Monday – Day 7 - Music
Tuesday –  Day 8 - Art
Wednesday – Day 1 – P.E. (Remember your sneakers!)
Thursday – Day 2 – Library (Don’t forget your books!)
Friday – Day 3 – Music

If you ever have any questions, feel free to contact me at any time.  Have a wonderful week!
