Kindergarten News for the Week of April 1, 2019

It is hard to believe that I am sending out a newsletter for APRIL already!  Hold on tight because the last two months of school are going to fly by!

The PTO is holding a Basket Auction again this year as a fundraiser.  Each class is contributing a themed basket.  Our basket theme is “Crayola”.  We are asking that parents send in an item or items to contribute to our class basket.  There are many Crayola products available such as crayons, markers, coloring books, finger paints, etc.  Please send your items to school by April 12.  Thank you to those of you who have already donated!

Kindergarten graduation pictures will be taken on Thursday, April 4.  Every student will have their picture taken even if you don’t want to buy a package.  If you are purchasing a package, please return your child’s order form and payment by Wednesday, April 3.  Students should wear a white collared shirt.  Girls should not wear their hair up high since they will be wearing caps.

Due to the cold and windy weather we have had many students with chapped lips.  You are welcome to send a tube of chapstick in your child’s backpack in case they need it.

This week we will be focusing on the letter Xx as in X-ray.  Show and Tell for the letter Xx will be on Friday, April 5.  Because there are limited words that begin with Xx, you are welcome to send items that end in Xx as well.
Our new Reading story is called “Trucks Roll.”  We will discuss what kinds of transportation help people do their jobs.  We will also be learning how to compare and contrast.

In Math we will be continuing our unit on subtraction.  Our essential question is “How can numbers be taken apart?”

Our specials schedule for the week is:
Monday –Day 6 - Art
Tuesday – Day 7 – Guidance
Wednesday – Day 8 – P.E. (Don’t forget your sneakers!)
Thursday – Day 9 – Music
Friday – Day 10 – Computers

Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  Have an excellent week!
