Kindergarten News for the Week of January 29, 2018

Monday, January 29 will be a PBIS dress down day if your child earned it.  Please look for the stamped PBIS card in your child’s folder.  If your child did not earn the reward I will write you a note.  Remember, students can wear a Spartan shirt with sweatpants or jeans.

The 100th Day of School is on Thursday, February 1, if we have no snow days before that day!  Please send your child to school dressed like they are 100 years old.  You want your child to appear older so you may want to use props such as canes, walkers, glasses, old-fashioned jewelry, wigs, hair sprays, etc.  One quick way to look older is to put baby powder in your child’s hair.  Don’t be afraid to use your imagination!  Thank you for your continued help!

So far our school has raised almost $20,000!  The Boosterthon pledging will stay open until next Friday so we can attempt to meet our new goal.  Also, our class is only $1 per lap away from earning our “Bring a Toy/Technology to School Day!  Please consider donating so our class can earn that awesome prize.  If our class reaches $30 per lap I will send home a note and let you know which day we will bring in toys/technology from home.  Thanks so much for all of your help with this fundraiser!

Don’t forget to do a quick review of your child’s sight words every night.  Remember, students must learn all 96 Kindergarten sight words by the end of the year!

This week we will be focusing on the letter Hh as in hat.  Show and Tell for the letter Hh will be on Friday, February 2.

Our new Reading story is called “Rooster’s Off to See the World”.  We will discuss what we can learn from our adventures.  We will also learn about sequence.

In Math we will be learning about the numbers to 20.

Our specials schedule for the week is:
Monday –Day 3 – Gym (Remember your sneakers!)
Tuesday – Day 4 – Music
Wednesday – Day 5 –Computers
Thursday – Day 6 – Art
Friday – Day 7 – Guidance

Please let me know if you or your child need anything.  Have a fantastic weekend!
