Kindergarten News for the Week of April 4, 2016

Kindergarten Graduation pictures will be taken on Wednesday, April 6.  Please send in your order and money to school no later than Tuesday, April 5.  Students must wear a white collared shirt so that everyone looks the same on the class composite picture.  Girls must wear their hair down so it will fit under the cap.  Thank you!

Don’t forget to do a quick review of your child’s sight words every night.  Remember, students must learn all 96 Kindergarten sight words by the end of the year!

This week we will be learning about the letter Uu as in umbrella.  Instead of show and tell, we will be doing United States reports.  Each student will be assigned one of the fifty states.  On Friday, April 8, students must present their state to the class and be able to say the name of their state, three facts about the state, and show a picture of the state.  More information will come home in your child’s folder on Monday.

Our new Reading story is called “Trucks Roll.”  We will discuss what kinds of transportation help people do their jobs.  We will also learn about comparing and contrasting.

In Math we will continue to learn about composing and decomposing numbers.

Our specials schedule for the week is:
Monday –Day 5 – Guidance
Tuesday – Day 6 – Art
Wednesday – Day 7 – Gym (Don’t forget your sneakers!)
Thursday – Day 8 – Music
Friday – Day 9 - Computers

Please let me know if you or your child needs anything.  Have a wonderful weekend!
