Kindergarten News for the Week of September 22, 2014

Our new Reading story is called “Smash!  Crash!”.  We will discuss characters, as well as what people like to do with their friends.

This week we will be focusing on the letter Mm as in man.  Show and Tell for the letter Mm will be on Friday, September 26.  A paper bag with the letter Mm will be sent home in your child’s folder.  Please send the bag back to school on Friday with one or two small items that start with Mm.   Please note that the items must be small enough to fit inside the brown paper bag.  Thank you for your help!

We have begun to read a few sight words.  At some point this week, you will receive an envelope with all of the sight words we have learned so far.  The words are to be reviewed quickly each night and the envelope should be sent back to school every day.  Thank you!

In Math we will continue learning about position and location words.

In Science we will continue with our essential question “What is Science?”.

We are in need of many more volunteers for the Fall Festival!  The Fall Festival will take place on Thursday, October 9.  If you would like to help, you are welcome to join the North Schuylkill 2014 Fall Festival Facebook page or e-mail NSfallfestival2014@hotmail.com.  Just a reminder, this is not a PTO event, so as long as your clearances are turned into the office you can volunteer!  In order to defer the cost of the Fall Festival, we are asking that each student gives $4.00 in an envelope.  This will help pay for food, games, pumpkins, and more!

You may want to send in a sweater or jacket for your child to keep in his/her cubby.  Our room is often chilly due to the constant blowing of our air system.  You may also want to send a change of clothes to be kept in case of spills or accidents.  These are completely optional and up to you!

Monday – Day 4 - Computers
Tuesday – Day 5 –Art
Wednesday – Day 1 – Library (Remember your book!)
Thursday – Day 2 – Music
Friday – Day 3 - Gym (Don’t forget to wear sneakers!)
