Congratulations!! You
made it through the first week of kindergarten!
There is no school on Monday due to the Labor Day holiday. Enjoy the long weekend!
Next week we will begin our new Reading story “We Are So
Proud”. We will discuss how school
children work and play together, as well as talk about the setting of a
story. A few new letters will be
introduced this week (Ff, Gg, Hh, Ii, Jj, Kk, Ll, Mm, and Nn) and we will come
back later in the year to learn about them in more detail.
In Math we will continue to learn about identifying and
describing shapes.
We will begin our new Science series on Monday. Each unit
will involve reading selections, inquiry experiments, and online components to
help your child learn about his/her world.
The first chapter is called “The Nature of Science” where we will learn
about what science is.
All children need a snack and drink every day. Snack time is usually at 11:30. In order to eliminate confusion about whether
something is a snack or a drink, you may want to pack your child’s lunch in a
regular lunchbox and his/her snack in a paper bag marked “snack”. Some children have eaten snack for lunch when
they were supposed to eat in the cafeteria!
You may want to send in a sweater or jacket for your child
to keep in his/her cubby. Our room is
often chilly due to the constant blowing of our air system. You may also want to send a change of clothes
to be kept in case of spills or accidents.
These are completely optional and up to you!
Please make sure your child has his/her red bus tag each
day! We want everyone to get home safely
and some children do not know their full name ---let alone address, phone
number, etc.
Due to the pep rally today, specials will be a little
different for next week. Our specials
for the week are:
Tuesday – Day 5 –Art
Wednesday – Day 1 – Library
Thursday – Day 2 – MusicFriday – Day 3 - Gym (Don’t forget to wear sneakers!)
Please let me know if you or your child needs anything. Have a fantastic weekend!
