This week,
March 7-11, is “Newspaper in Education Week”.
We are promoting reading and encouraging you and your child to read the
newspaper together for at least 10 minutes each night. Your child is bringing home a form that
should be completed and returned on Monday, March 14. Also, be on the lookout for my ad in the
classifieds. Whoever brings it to me and
completes the instructions will get a treat!
The PTO is
holding a Chinese Auction again this year as a fundraiser. Each class is doing a themed basket. Our basket theme is “Crayola”. We are asking that parents send in an item or
items to contribute to our class basket.
Please send anything that is part of the “Crayola” brand. This includes crayons, markers, colored
pencils, Color Wonder, sketch pads, paint, clay, etc. In order to stick with the theme of our
basket, please do not send in items unless they specifically say “Crayola” on
them. Please send in your item before
April 1, 2016. Thank you in advance for
your donation! The classroom from each
grade whose basket has the most tickets at the end of the auction will receive an
ice cream party!!
Don’t forget
to do a quick review of your child’s sight words every night. Remember, students must learn all 96
Kindergarten sight words by the end of the year!
This week we
will be focusing on the letter Ee as in egg.
Show and Tell for the letter Ee will be on Friday, March 11.
Our new
Reading story is called “If You Could Go to Antarctica”. We will discuss what it would be like to have
an Antarctic adventure. We will also
learn about classifying and categorizing.
In Math we
will be learning about subtraction.
