Kindergarten News for the Week of March 21, 2016

Spring will finally arrive on Sunday!  Hang in there through what is hopefully the last bit of snow, and look forward to the warm, sunny days ahead!

Now that Daylight Savings Time has passed, students are allowed to wear shorts to school again.  Please use your discretion as we will still be going outside for recess most of the time.

There will be no school on Friday, March 25.  Enjoy your Easter weekend!

The PTO is holding a Chinese Auction again this year as a fundraiser.  Each class is doing a themed basket.  Our basket theme is “Crayola”.  We are asking that parents send in an item or items to contribute to our class basket.  Please send anything that is part of the “Crayola” brand.  This includes crayons, markers, colored pencils, Color Wonder, sketch pads, paint, clay, etc.  In order to stick with the theme of our basket, please do not send in items unless they specifically say “Crayola” on them.  Please send in your item before April 1, 2016.  Thank you in advance for your donation!  The classroom from each grade whose basket has the most tickets at the end of the auction will receive an ice cream party!!

Don’t forget to do a quick review of your child’s sight words every night.  Remember, students must learn all 96 Kindergarten sight words by the end of the year!

This week we will be learning about the letter Ww as in water.  Show and Tell for the letter Ww will be on Thursday, March 24.

Our new Reading story is called “Max Takes the Train”.  We will discuss different ways of going places.  We will also learn about realism and fantasy.

In Math we will continue to learn about subtraction.

Our specials schedule for the week is:
Monday –Day 6 - Art
Tuesday – Day 7 – Gym (Don’t forget your sneakers!)
Wednesday – Day 8 – Music
Thursday – Day 9 – Computers
Friday – No School!

Please let me know if you or your child needs anything.  Have a wonderful weekend!
