Kindergarten News for the Week of February 23, 2015

What wild weather we’ve been having!  Let’s cross our fingers that spring comes soon!

Scholastic book order flyers were sent home this week and are due back on Monday, February 23.  Remember, all of the books our class orders gain us bonus points to use for free classroom books.  If we can sell $125.00 as a class this month, we will receive TEN free books for our classroom!

We have had lots of runny noses this year and are running very low on tissues.  If you have any extra boxes of tissues at home and would like to donate them to our classroom, we would greatly appreciate it.  Thank you to the families who have already donated tissues!

Read Across America Day will be on Friday, February 27.  We will celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday, have special guests from Bloomsburg University present a lesson, and even have a special guest read us a Dr. Seuss book!  If you have any Dr. Seuss books at home, feel free to send them to school (with your child’s name inside) so we can look at many of his books.

This week we will be learning about the letter Ll as in lion.  Show and Tell for the letter Ll will be on Friday, February 27.  Please send in one or two items that begin with Ll.

Our Reading story this week is “My Lucky Day”.  We will discuss what a lucky adventure is.  We will also learn about cause and effect.

In Math, we will continue to learn about the numbers 11-20 and start our new topic about numbers to 100.

Our specials schedule for the week is:
Monday – Day 3 – Gym (Remember your sneakers!)

Tuesday – Day 4 - Computers
Wednesday – Day 5 – Art

Thursday – Day 1 – Library (Remember your book!)
Friday – Day 2 – Music

Please let me know if you or your child needs anything.  Have a lovely week!
