Kindergarten News for the Week of April 9, 2018

The PTO Basket Raffle is this weekend – April 14th and 15th.  Thank you for all of your donations to our Crayola basket.  Our class basket is going to look fantastic, and whoever wins it will be very happy!

Scholastic Book Orders are due on Friday, April 13.

Information will be sent home this week about Kindergarten Graduation Pictures.  They will be taken on Thursday, April 26.  Please see your child’s folder for more information.

Don’t forget to do a quick review of your child’s sight words every night.  Remember, students must learn all 96 Kindergarten sight words by the end of the year!

This week we will be learning about the letter Uu as in umbrella.  Instead of Show and Tell this week, we will be presenting reports on the United States of America.  Every child has been assigned a state and is to find 2 or 3 facts and a picture of their state.  This is very much like the dinosaur projects we did in the beginning of the year.  Please see your child’s folder for more information.  Projects are due on Friday, April 13.  Thank you for your continued help and support at home!

Our new Reading story is called “The Little Engine That Could.”  We will discuss what kinds work trains do.  We will also learn about plot.

In Math we will continue to learn about composing and decomposing numbers.

Our specials schedule for the week is:
Monday –Day 4 – Music
Tuesday – Day 5 – Computers
Wednesday – Day 6 – Art
Thursday – Day 7 – Guidance
Friday – Day 8 – P.E. (Remember your sneakers!)

Please let me know if you or your child need anything.  Have a wonderful weekend!
